Building Back Links to your Blog Web 2.0 Style

There are a lot of web 2.0 type sites which allow the submission of your blog and/or RSS feeds which is a great way to get some high quality one way links. Some also allow you to connect with other bloggers who share similar interests. I highly recommend submitting your blog and/or RSS feed to all of the services listed below.

Technorati

Website: www.technorati.com

Technorati was one of the original social media sites which created it's own directory of blogs by crawling the net for tags. Technorati has organised a mass directory of posts grouped by matching tags. Using it's ping service and probably via several other means bloggers can notify Technorati whenever they have made a new post allowing Technorati to automatically list the latest posts of your blog.

Although Technorati does not generally send a lot of direct traffic, it does help greatly in ensuring your posts get indexed in a short period of time. Also Links to your site are not nofollowed therefore you can pick up some high quality links. Once you have claimed you blog at Technorati there is little else you need to do except ping them when you write a new post. Luckily if you use Wordpress then by default as soon as you hit publish post it will automatically notify pingomatic.com which in turn pings the major services for you including Technorati.

You can check to make sure this is configured in your Wordpress control panel under settings -> writing. In the Update services section you should see the URL http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ if not feel free to add it. You can also add additional services here however Ping-oMatic tends to do a pretty good job by itself.

How to claim your blog at Technorati

Claiming your blog at Technorati is easy you simply create a new account then once logged in go to 'My Blogs' in the 'Blogs' drop down menu. Next, click 'claim a new blog' and enter the URL of your blog.
